2/8 – Member Andre Gabrillie passed away
The month began with the loss of a dear colleague Andre Gabrillie. The members of the Board express their sadness at his loss and their sincere condolences to his family.
8/8 – Letter to the Minister of Tourism and the Hellenic Competition Commission.
A letter was sent to the Competition Committee and the Minister of Tourism pointing out thecontinuous and uncontrolled increase in the prices of berthing fees.
8/8 – Letter on the digitization of the industry.
A letter has been sent to the Ministries of Finance, Shipping and Digital Governance in which we describe the lagging behind in our industry in terms of digitization and red tape reduction. The inability to interface the existing E-register with other applications such as ship tax and TEPAI is highlighted
13/8 – Memorandum on pharmacies
After the meeting we had with the Chief of staff to the Commandant of the Hellenic Coast Guard regarding the issues with the Pharmacy, illegal charters etc. we sent a memorandum regarding the equipment of the pharmacies of our ships pointing out among other things that the European directive on the basis of which the relevant presidential decree was issued refers to crewed ships and the safety of the workers on them.
11/9 – FEDHATTA teleconference
The President of the Board participated via teleconference in the meeting of the Board of Directors of FEDHATTA where its president Mr. Tsilidis presented the actions of the federation and the issues it deals with. The postponement of the implementation of the digital job card in our businesses is of special interest to our industry.
17/9 – Meeting with Minister of State Mr. Voridis
The President and the Secretary General of the Board met with the Minister of State Mr. Voridis. They presented him with our main issue which is the transition of the VAT rate on charters to the low rate and the issue of the lack of berths.
25/9 – Meeting with AADE
Representatives of the Board met with the Governor of AADE Mr. Pitsilis and AADE executives.
The topics raised were:
1. The transfer of the VAT rate on charters to the low rate.
2. The malfunctions of the e-register and its non-interconnection with the other applications of AADE
3. The consequences of the closure of the Ships tax office.
4. The lack of issues relevant to our industry in the "my requests" of the application of AADE.
25/9 – Adjudication of VAT appeal
Once again, the adjudication of our appeal to the Council of State on the matter of VAT has been postponed
26/9 - EBI Executive Committee Meeting
The President participated via teleconference in the EBI Executive Committee. The results of the meeting will be posted in the "NEWS" section of our website.
25/9 Closure of Lefkas Bridge.
The Seaworthiness certificate of the Lefkas bridge is a known issue that resulted in the interruption of its operation. After various meetings, the Ministry of Shipping undertook a legislative initiative , the relevant amendment was passed by the Parliament and the necessary decisions were issued. The bridge was inspected and its safety certificate was extended, resulting in normal operation.
