NEWS OF S.I.T.E.S.A.P. JANUARY 2024
9/1/24 Meeting with the Director of Marina Alimos Mr. Vangelis Vlachos
A delegation from the Board met with Mr. Vangelis Vlachos and Mr. Athanasios Atsaro. Our objections and protests were mentioned regarding excessive increases, instead advocating for reductions due to current and upcoming construction works. Concerning the issue of nine-month contracts, we received verbal assurance that all charters would be executed normally till the end of the year. There was no clear answer on what would happen to the vessels when the construction begins, or to when exactly these jobs will commence. They felt assured that the necessary Ministerial Decision allowing the construction to begin would be issued by September. We requested a further meeting with the management of Ellaktor to discuss these matters.

A special meeting of the Board was organized which members active in Alimos Marina were invited to attend. The main topic was the excessive 50% increase in mooring fees and the nine-month contracts issued due to planned marina upgrades. Discussions included the recent meeting with the marina management, opinions of members, and exploring possible legal action. Finding new mooring spaces is urgent.
16/1/2024 Cutting of Vasilopita
The Administrative Boards of the three professional associations (E.P.E.S.T. - P.E.N.E.T.I.S. - S.I.T.E.S.A.P.) decided to collaborate closely to address issues faced by the maritime tourism sector. The collaboration began with a joint cutting of the New Years cake in the Municipality of Paleo Faliro. While there was significant official participation, member attendance was unfortunately low. Discussions covered industry topics, particularly mooring issues. Such events are not only ceremonial but also an opportunity to demonstrate our strength to gain support for our demands. More details can be found in the issued Press Release. Collaboration between associations will continue with joint meetings at relevant ministries regarding mooring positions.
23/1/24 EBI General Assembly
President Mr. Efthymis Bimbis attended the Regular General Assembly of EBI held in Dusseldorf. During the assembly and the subsequent meal, he had the opportunity to discuss the increase in operational costs for vessels, the rising prices of new vessels, fleet replacement challenges, and the significant issue of mooring and management space shortage. These issues will occupy EBI in the coming period.
24/1/24 BOAT SHOW DUSSELDORF
During the exhibition, two meetings took place between shipowners (members of S.I.T.E.S.A.P.) and representatives from the two main vessel rental platforms (MMK & NauSys). They were asked to ensure the uniqueness of each vessel and not be present in more than one fleet. The representatives assured that they would comply with the request.
25/1/2024 Meeting for Santorini
Another special meeting of the Board was organized with the members active in Santorini. Main topics included addressing the municipal port fund “tax”, organizing the port in Vlychada, and finding solutions for passing professional vessels.
